Echoes Toolkit

Tools and methods for to the specific needs of trainers

The ECHOES Toolkit is intended to be a useful resource of practical information for the direct implementation of innovative methods in VET projects delivered through virtual classrooms and extended to unemployed people.

It will contain a set of practical tools and methods adapted to the specific needs of trainers, tutors and staff involved in online virtual training/mentoring processes. It will be structured to reflect the DigComp, the European Digital Competence Framework, and its competence levels, adapted to the specificities of individual countries.

The Toolkit aims to generate a positive impact at systemic level by introducing a comprehensive set of tools for the proper management of virtual training / VET tutoring courses for unemployed people specific to the type of competences in question – e.g. communication, organisation, evaluation of results, etc.

AREA 01

Professional Engagement

«AREA 01. Professional Engagement» Description

The Professional Engagement area is focus on the educators’ ability to use digital technologies not only to enhance teaching, but also for their professional interactions with colleagues, learners, members of the Educational Community and other interested parties, building the digital competence for their individual professional development and for the collective good and continuous innovation in the organisation and the teaching profession.

This area is composed by different subareas, focus on specific skills and competences education professionals should work on to build their ability using digital technologies for communication, collaboration and professional development.

Based on the real needs experienced by VET professionals in the framework of the ECHOES project, the following sub-areas for improvement have been identified. For this purpose, in the ECHOES Toolkit for Extended Classrooms for Higher Opportunities Enhancing Skills you will find a series of tools and tricks for their application in this journey of professional, digital and educational development.

Digital Resources

«AREA 02. Digital Resources» Description

The Digital Resources area is focus on the educators’ ability to come to terms with this variety, to effectively identify resources that best fit their learning objectives, learner group and teaching style, to structure the wealth of materials, establish connections and to modify, add on to and develop themselves digital resources to support their teaching.

This area is composed by different subareas, focus on specific skills and competences education professionals should work on to build their ability to be aware of how to responsibly use and manage digital content, respect copyright rules when using, modifying and sharing resources, and protect sensitive content and data, such as digital exams or students’ grades.

Based on the real needs experienced by VET professionals in the framework of the ECHOES project, the following sub-areas for improvement have been identified. For this purpose, in the ECHOES Toolkit for Extended Classrooms for Higher Opportunities Enhancing Skills you will find a series of tools and tricks for their application in this journey of designing, creating and sharing digital educational contents.

Teaching and Learning

«AREA 03. Teaching and Learning» Description

The Teaching and Learning area is focus on the educators’ ability to create the specific digital competence lies in effectively orchestrating the use of digital technologies in the different phases and settings of the learning process, whatever the pedagogic strategy or approach is chosen.

This area is composed by different subareas, focus on specific skills and competences education professionals should work on to build their ability to use digital technologies and services to enhance the interaction with learners, individually and collectively, within and outside the learning session.

Based on the real needs experienced by VET professionals in the framework of the ECHOES project, the following sub-area for improvement has been identified. For this purpose, in the ECHOES Toolkit for Extended Classrooms for Higher Opportunities Enhancing Skills you will find a series of tools and tricks for their application in this journey of designing, planning and implementing the use of digital technologies in the different stages of the learning process.

Assessment

«AREA 04. Assessment» Description

The Assessment area is focus on the educators’ ability to analyse and interpret the wide range of data available on each individual learner’s learning behaviour and use it to help make decisions, consider how digital technologies can enhance existing assessment strategies and create or facilitate innovative assessment approaches.

This area is composed by different subareas, focus on specific skills and competences education professionals should work on to build their ability adapting teaching strategies and to provide targeted support, based on the evidence generated by the digital technologies used and enabling learners and parents to understand the evidence provided by digital technologies and use it for decision-making.

Based on the real needs experienced by VET professionals in the framework of the ECHOES project, the following sub-area for improvement has been identified. For this purpose, in the ECHOES Toolkit for Extended Classrooms for Higher Opportunities Enhancing Skills you will find a series of tools and tricks for their application in this journey using digital technologies to provide targeted and timely feedback to learners.

Empowering Learners

«AREA 05. Empowering Learners» Description

The Empowering Learners area is focus on the educators’ ability to use digital technologies for supporting learner-centred pedagogic strategies and boosting the active involvement of learners in the learning process and their ownership of it, facilitating learners’ active engagement, experimenting with different options or solutions, understanding connections, coming up with creative solutions or creating an artefact and reflecting on it.

This area is composed by different subareas, focus on specific skills and competences education professionals should work on to build their ability to use digital technologies within pedagogic strategies that foster learners’ transversal skills, deep thinking and creative expression, opening up learning to new, real-world contexts, which involve learners themselves in hands-on activities, scientific investigation or complex problem solving, or in other ways increase learners’ active involvement in complex subject matters.

Based on the real needs experienced by VET professionals in the framework of the ECHOES project, the following sub-area for improvement has been identified. For this purpose, in the ECHOES Toolkit for Extended Classrooms for Higher Opportunities Enhancing Skills you will find a series of tools and tricks for their application in this journey of using digital technologies to foster learners’ active and creative engagement with a subject matter.

Facilitating Learners’ Digital Competence

«AREA 06. Facilitating Learners’ Digital Competence» Description

The Empowering Learners area is focused on the educators’ ability to facilitate learners’ digital competence as an integral part of their own digital competence.

This area is composed by different subareas, focus on specific skills and competences education professionals should work on to build their ability to motivate learners in articulating information needs, finding information and resources in digital environments, effectively and responsibly using digital technologies for communication, collaboration and civic participation, expressing themselves through digital means and solving technical problems, or to transfer technological knowledge creatively to new situations.

Based on the real needs experienced by VET professionals in the framework of the ECHOES project, the following sub-area for improvement has been identified. For this purpose, in the ECHOES Toolkit for Extended Classrooms for Higher Opportunities Enhancing Skills you will find a series of tools and tricks for their application in this journey of incorporate learning activities, assignments and assessments which require learners to express themselves through digital means, and to modify and create digital content in different formats.
