What does it mean? #
Micro-learning consists of a training approach that provides content organized into small, focused and easily assimilable units. These units, often called “microlessons,” are designed to address specific learning objectives that can be achieved in a short amount of time. In the context of VET, microlearning is used to impart targeted, practical and immediately applicable knowledge and skills.
Micro-learning content is short and concise, typically lasting a few minutes or even a few seconds. The contents are highly specific. Micro-learning is recommended whenever you intend to promote targeted learning, avoiding providing excess content. It therefore supports continuous learning.

How to use this methodology #
Through micro-learning, VET professionals have a practical approach to be able to offer training content that responds to specific learning objectives. Trainers can use short modules (or “pills”), easily accessible from mobile devices and integrated with multimedia elements (videos, infographics, etc.) which improve student engagement and use of the contents.
Using micro-learning on mobile devices it is possible to improve work-based training processes: training pills containing operational instructions, practical insights and suggestions in bite-size format that support the acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities that can be immediately used in real work environments.
In work inclusion and job placement support programs, micro-learning can promote the transfer of knowledge and practical skills for job orientation, the search for job opportunities and skills relating to work discipline, equal opportunities and inclusiveness.
In programs to support self-entrepreneurship and business creation, micro-learning can be used to transfer knowledge and skills relating to the design and development of professional and business paths: guides, practical advice, methodologies. The training pills can also be distributed regularly to learners to support them step by step in the implementation of the different phases of business ideation and development, also using informal channels, such as chatbots on mobile devices.
Training #
– Enables the delivery and use, even from mobile devices, of training “pills” focused on specific learning objectives
– Allows integration with multimedia content, such as videos, infographics, etc.
– Enables real-time monitoring and evaluation of learning through integration with mobile device applications
Work-based training #
– Enables the delivery and use, even from mobile devices, of training “pills” containing operating instructions, practical insights and suggestions in bite-size format
– Enables real-time monitoring and evaluation of learning through integration with mobile device applications
Tutoring and support for job placement #
– Enables the delivery and use, even from mobile devices, of training “pills” containing operating instructions, practical insights and suggestions in bite-size format
– Enables real-time monitoring and evaluation of learning through integration with mobile device applications
Support for self-entrepreneurship and business creation #
– Enables the delivery and use, even from mobile devices, of training “pills” in bite-size format
– It allows continuous support, through the distribution of training “pills” via informal channels, such as chatbots on mobile devices
